Heavy flood in Jhapa
One person lost his life, two others went missing and hundreds of houses were inundated due to floods following the heavy rainfall in different places of Jhapa district.
Almost all areas in the southern part of the district are inundated.
According to District Police Office Jhapa, Kali Bahadur Limbu, 64, of Goldhap VDC died after he drowned in the flooded Deuriya River two days ago. Police said that Ekendra Khadka, 36, of Gauradaha VDC and Dee Madrdi, 19, of Kumarkhod VDC had gone missing in the same river.
DSP Hari Prasad Sharma said a police team has been deployed to search for the missing youths.
Life has been paralysed after human settlements were inundated due to floods in Mechi, Biring, Mai, Ratuwa, Hadiya and Deuniya rivers in Jhapa.
Flooding in the rivers has inundated Kankai and Damak municipalities, Chakchaki, Gherabari, Shivagunj, Panchgachhi, Kerabari, Goldhap, Prithivinagar, Baniyani. Pathamari, Kechana and Rajgadh among other VDCs in the district.
