Passersby jump head first to save driver in

sinking car

May 07, 2016 :
A female driver accidentally drove into a river after her car collided with another vehicle in Wujiang city, Jiangsu Province. The impact of the accident led her to step on the gas pedal instead of the brakes. As the car slowly made its way to the bottom of the river, four locals rushed to the rescue, saving the driver in the nick of time.

One of the helpers wielded two hammers and jumped into the water to smash one of the side windows. A passerby recorded the moment when the driver was pulled from the water to safety. Local police said it was very difficult to open the door or window of a submerged car due to the pressure difference between the inside and outside spaces, noting that using tools to crack the window was the rescuer’s best option.
