Aviation authority probes fake pilot licenses
Police have arrested a co-pilot of Goma Airlines with fake academic certificates. Bishal Karki, 36, of Bharatpur-1 in Dhanusha district and currently living in Tikathali of Lalitpur was arrested by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau, Maharajgunj, on Tuesday. Karki had completed his pilot course from Delta Airlines of Philippines after producing a fake academic certificate of completing I.Sc. from Amrit Science College in Kathmandu. The CIB shared the information at a news conference organised here on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police of the Bureau, Tarani Lamsal, said that Karki produced the certificate of I. Sc. even though he was not found to be a student at Amrit Science College. Karki received personal license CPL A 486 from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Further investigation was underway in this regard, according to the Bureau. Bureau Chief, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Navaraj Silwal, said that the Bureau has been carrying out investigation over the academic certificates of more than five dozens pilots. He said the Bureau has been carrying out investigation in coordination with the CAAN. RSS
